"Pure Encapsulations Ultimate DHA used to have 1400 mg total fish oil concentrate with a 6:1 ratio of DHA to EPA. Now it has only 1200 mg total fish oil concentrate with a reduced ratio of nearly half at 3.6:1. This is a dramatic change in the quality of the product which doesnt make it very "e;ultimate"e; anymore since there are several other brands with higher ratios of DHA to EPA than this. The proof is in the pudding because with the new Ultimate DHA total cholesterol went up nearly 25% with an LDL (bad cholesterol) increase of 12%."
Best DHA Fish Oil
"I have been using DHA Ultimate for several months as a means for assisting in treatment for hypertriglyceridemia. The factors that were important to me in selecting this brand over others were as follows:1) High concentration of DHA.2) No additives.3) Lower levels of natural preservatives (like vit E) than other brands - I already get enough vit E so I wasnt looking for more froma fish oil.4) Very specifically identifies the source of the fish oil as sardines and herring from the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Chile (most other brands do not provide that level of detail as to the source of the product).Also I have found through using the product that I have no fishy after taste or burps which are commonly associated with fish oil. It is more expensive but soimetimes you have to pay up for quality."
